Why It is a Good Thing if Scotland Is Not Allowed in the European Union

Again, as I’ve said before I probably disagree on a LOT of what this guy believes, but on geo-political themes he seems to have done his homework! He does a good job of exposing what the fear-mongers in the “No to Independence” vote and the EU countries truly fear themselves.

They fear a strong, powerful Scotland. It has a small population but HUGE oil reserves. If unchained by the EU, their regulations and their monetary policies its economy would TAKE OFF.

Oh the Brits won’t let you use the Bank of England? Well boo hoo. What else is Scotland famous for besides whiskey?

That’s right. The BANK OF SCOTLAND! (Arguably a more solvent and well run bank) If anything buoyed by huge oil reserves and a sane fiscal policy other countries would be begging to trade in the SCOTTISH POUND.

And it goes without saying that if we’re looking for an ally in Europe with oil reserves… and Scotland is looking for someone with a big military to protect them…

Well that just seems like a natural alliance right there.

Give the guy a watch. Do you think he has a point? Are you against Scottish Independence? Why?

I was there a week before the vote and the devide was very close. Most in the north took a strong stance for yes to independence with a lot of signs on buildings and signs promoting leaving. Meanwhile down south seemed more noteable against the split with their wishy washy “no thanks” signs and commercials.

Though speaking to people the ought the most common response I got was that their heart wants the independence while their mind says otherwise.

Have you seen the John Oliver sketch promoting independence? If not I highly recommend. Even now that it’s long after the fact.
