We Can Never Have a Muslim President

This is being sent around on social media as “proof” of how “racist” Ben Carson is.

Okay, besides bring about religion and not race (dumbasses)…it is entirely taken out if context.
I believe the context was that a Muslim who rejected Sharia Law and accepted the Constitution as the law of the land wouldn’t be a “Muslim President”. He would be an ” American President who happens to be Muslim.”
This isn’t a new distinction.

JFK ran into the same issue running for President in 1960.

Many said he would try to make this a Papal (Catholic) country and “fly the Vatican/Catholic flag over the White House.” (sound familiar?)

Refer to the remarks of JFK when asked if he would be the first “Catholic President.”

He responded to the criticism in a speech:

“For contrary to common newspaper usage, I am not the Catholic candidate for president. I am the Democratic Party’s candidate for president, who happens also to be a Catholic. I do not speak for my church on public matters, and the church does not speak for me.”

And that is what Dr. Carson said if you go beyond the sound-bite they keep playing over and over on the “gotcha” shows and from the Social Media Activists.

Dr. Carson simply stated that any candidate for president would have to put America first when he took the oath of office. The Quran does indeed state that Islam would be the Religion AND THE LAW of every country. However, any American president would have to reject that part of the Quran and accept the US Constitution as coming first, with Islam second.

IF they were willing to do that, they could be president. However, by doing so they would technically cease to be a “good” Muslim… according to the Quran.

Many folks refer to THIS passage to show “religious tolerance.”

“There shall be no compulsion in religion.”

Ahhhh but that’s only for the UNBELIEVERS. The Muslims are told to not bother with the unbelievers because they are doomed regardless.

As for the unbelievers, it is the same whether or not you forewarn them; they will not have faith. God has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and grievous punishment awaits them.

However, if you are a MUSLIM, you have no choice. You MUST do what Allah(God) says.

It is not for true believers men or women to take their choice in the affairs if God and His apostle decree otherwise. He that disobeys God and His apostle strays far indeed.

Quran (5:44) – “Whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed is among the disbelievers”

So I guess that begs the question… is a Muslim who rejects a core teaching of the Quran still allowed to be a “good” Muslim? Are all of “Good Americans” who happen to be Muslim in effect “Bad Muslims” or even “Non-Believers” if their decisions conflict with the Quran?

That’s even worse because if you WERE a Muslim and then stop being a Muslim, that’s Apostasy. That is an instant death sentence spelled out very clearly in the Quran.

This is what I would ask the reporters who asked ME the question they asked Dr. Carson. I would ask them what a “Muslim president” would be like, and if they could still be Muslim and American? Test their knowledge of the Quran and see what THEY think.

Put THEM on the spot.

I dunno at what point you are or are not a “Good” or “Bad” Muslim. If you go by a strict interpretation, the moment you put anything (country, family, etc) before Allah then you cease to be a Muslim. However, I’m sure there are many Americans who still go to the Mosque and consider themselves bound by the US Constitution and American law.

Are Catholics who are pro-abortion “Bad Catholics?”

Are Protestants who are for gay marriage “Bad Protestants?”

Are Mormons who smoke and drink “Bad Mormons?”

Are Hindus who eat beef “Bad Hindus?”

Or are they all allowed some leeway in their views?

I will say that in most other religions, there is a place set aside for the “Laws of Man” vs the “Laws of Faith.”

Famously Jesus said:

“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21).

So, unless expressly forbidden by God, you can follow the laws of Man as well.

However, in Islam the mere EXISTENCE of rules by men NOT based on Allah/God are forbidden. There can not BE any man-made laws that didn’t come from the Quran (according to the words of Mohammed.) Repeatedly the Quran refers to the idea that only Allah/God can make laws.

Quran (18:26) – “Allah…  makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule”

Quran (12:40) – “…Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah…”

Not only that, but Muslims don’t need to obey laws unless they are MADE by a Muslim.

Quran (4:59) – “O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you…” 

Quran (9:3) – “…Allah and his messenger are free from obligation to the unbelievers…” 

It’s an interesting question to me whether one can be a “Good Muslim” as well as a “Good American”… let alone a “Good American President.”

Dr. Carson for one says that if you identify as a “Muslim President”, then you cannot for you are relegating your American allegiance secondary.

JFK agreed.
