Who is this Scott Walker guy?
Why does it matter?
In a nutshell he’s the Governor of Wisconsin and a POSSIBLE Presidential candidate for 2016.
But, first things first. He’s in the news because of several attacks on his character and education.
Here’s the “damning” video.
So while talking about the cheese industry in Britain, he’s ambushed by “Do you believe in Evolution?”
Granted, that’s an odd off the wall question for anyone in the middle of an interview on international trade and the Wisconsin cheese industry. He didn’t handle it great, but he did respond when he got home on Twitter:
“Both science & my faith dictate my belief that we are created by God. I believe faith & science are compatible, & go hand in hand.”
However THAT didn’t make news. He can’t be seen to be reasonable and fair. He can’t be seen as RESPECTING both sides of the issue.
After all, Scott Walker MUST BE STOPPED. In an apparently bipartisan effort, both Republicans and Democrats are on board with derailing his 2016 presidential hopes.
This scares the bejeezus out of both party establishments. Walker is first. Rand Paul is second. Small government conservatives leading the polls?
That threatens to stop BOTH Republican Jeb Bush and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
And Walker hasn’t even said he’s RUNNING for President yet!
When the whole “ooooh you believe in God!” diss fell flat with most people, they brought out their next “ace” card. They insulted his intelligence (predictably.)
So, he was attacked for “not finishing college.”
I think this too is only going to shoot the Establishment in the foot.
You see only 30% of Americans have college degrees. A large number of our entrepreneurs like Bill Gates didn’t earn one.
It’s not like Walker failed out. He simply got a good job. Isn’t that what college is for?
He left college to work for the AMERICAN RED CROSS. How do you get much nobler than that?
So let’s see what his “lack of college” did for him.
He worked for the American Red Cross and IBM.
Then he was elected to the Wisconsin Legislature at 25.
He was elected Milwaukee County Executive at 35.
(I believe the first Republican to win in a Democrat city in ages)
He was elected Governor at 44 of a “Blue” (Democrat) state.
Record job growth.
Balanced budgets without raising taxes.
He supported a new Voter ID Law.
Education standards (state driven and not Common Core)
Rejected taking Obamacare funds.
This of course pissed off the public unions and Democrats who ran smear campaign after smear campaign, slinging as much mud as they could.
They TWICE forged enough signatures to have “recall” elections to get rid of the Governor. The first time he won with 1% MORE of the vote than he originally won the election.
Having been through 5 years of mud slinging and 3 elections since 2010, he is pretty well vetted. This is the WORST they have been able to dig up on him despite MILLIONS poured into the hunt for dirt and negative information by Unions, Democrats and Republicans.
This is seriously the best they could come up with to attack him with.
“He left college to get a good job! What a jerk!”
“He’s a Christian so he’s an idiot!”
If that’s their best then he might actually have a shot. Solid record as governor of a “Blue” state working with both political parties. Very little baggage. He’s also not saddled (yet) with the “kook” label like Rand Paul.
