Better Never Than Later

Let’s summarize here.
The stealth plane is maybe not as stealthy.
It’s far more expensive than predicted.
Its sensors don’t work right.
It only carries one type of weapon (AIM-120) and only two of those.
It can’t fly fast, or high, or maneuver.
The engine sometimes catches on fire.
Why is the Air Force fighting so hard for this P.O.S. again?
End the program, feed the poor or something.

The research is done. We could easily use that technology like they say to upgrade existing jets and start the next generation.
Leapfrog everyone and have a “high-low” mix. The Navy and Marines are already hinting that the don’t see a need for a stealth fighter per se in the next 10-20 years. Drones and cruise missiles do the dangerous stuff.
I still say buying a fleet of new C130 transports and removable cruise missile kits would work well, cheaply, and give us a ton of capability to transport troops, cargo, etc when not bombing stuff (disaster relief, etc)
