Target Practice Around the World

This is an interesting piece from “Slate” on what people shoot at for target practice around the world.

Some made sense.

Ours is a bad guy with a gun.

The South African one is an enemy soldier with a gun.

Some were simple but practical like Kurdistan:

The others made me wonder…

Not sure why housewives and farm animals are targeted in Germany.

Guess they take “bullseye” literally over there.

Children dressed in huge “fly collars” from the 1970s?

Is that what Al Qaeda wears in the United Arab Emirates? Are there roving gangs of retro disco cults assaulting people with horrible music and awful fashion sense? There’s no bottom to these targets, but I’m assuming they are told to be on the look out for platform shoes and bell bottoms on potential suspects.

(This is very easy to spot as the typical Emirati wears no pants at all, just a man-dress)

It sorta makes sense. Just imagine that Arabs are the extremely retired “don’t give a crap” types.

Think about it. They are BORN retired and have developed a whole culture that resembles a Florida retirement community.

They basically wear bath robes and comfortable shoes.

They don’t work.

They are given government stipends from oil and gas revenues.

Their whole mindset is “I could die today, so why bother with traffic lights or seat belts?”

They even have people that wander around and give you tickets for not wearing the right clothes. Literally the “Fashion Police!”

That still doesn’t explain why there are bands of disco terrorists roaming their country however. I guess this requires more in depth research.

  3. Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any suggestions for inexperienced blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.

  4. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Cheers!

  6. Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of hard work due to no backup. Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?

Of the blog itself? It’s really up to WordPress.
I have copies of most of my stuff on my other website and my computer.
      That’s backed up.
I don’t back up every post on WP.
However, much of the non-literary content (pictures, etc) are saved.

  7. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

It all depends on the subject.
Some things lend themselves to pictures more than others.
I try to add them where I can.
I’m more of a writer than a photographer.
      Thank you for your interest.
