“We’ve been able to shut down illegal activities in certain sectors with our different operations that we’ve had,” Perry said on The Glenn Beck Program Thursday. “But I think there’s a point in time where you say, ‘You know what? This 1,200 mile border has to be secured.’ And if there is a people and if there is a place that it can happen, it will be Texas.”
The Administration had better PRAY that Governor Perry is just blowing smoke. If he does secure the border, that’s going to more than DOUBLE the number of illegals swarming into the other border states. Arizona’s governor Jan Brewer has talked about using the National Guard on her border too. If Texas goes through with it, you can bet Arizona will quickly follow suit. New Mexico I bet will too. That’ll leave ALL the illegals (from the South anyway) going straight into California. Then it’ll be up to them to decide if they are really THAT in love with illegals.
I’m gonna bet the answer is “NO” which means they’re going to squeal and cry to the Federal Gov’t for help and to “stop the other mean states from enforcing border laws.” At the very least they’ll DEMAND billions of dollars in bailout money. (Not saying it’ll go to the illegals but hey money is money right? A scam that works is a good scam if you’re a politician.)
Then of course there will be a legal battle. There will be a tug of war over who can and can’t use the National Guard troops. The President is gonna lose that one. Unless he calls them up off the border to send them to… Iraq or Ukraine or somewhere…. (just saying… you see how fast the news reporters ran over to Ukraine and Israel when things started getting ugly on the border?)
When legal means fail, physical means are required. Granted the state of Texas isn’t a tiny religious compound or a rancher. It’s a lot harder to pick on. Still… you can’t have your redneck states gettin’ all uppity now can ya? Just ignoring Federal policy and all (That Federal policy in this case being to ignore Federal laws to stop illegal immigration.)
Time will tell who’s gonna blink on this one.
